Program
Descriptions
5-6

We
begin with a daily obstacle course that
includes tight rope walking, crawling through tunnels, mini-tramp
jumping tumbling, and balancing. Stretches follow with
rotations in scarf and bean bag juggling, plate spinning, feather
balancing devil sticks, ribbons, tight rope, rola bola, and globe
balancing. This age group does not unicycle. A quiet corner
with books provides needed down time. Afternoon’s
are full of magic and group games. There will be daily
drawing and crafts, as well as singing and free time. The final day
includes a presentation to the parents of all of the fun things we have
experienced. Snacks and lunches are provided from home. Pick-up time is
between 3:00 and 4:00.

Touring Program for Experienced
Campers
- 12 days: tentatively July 26-30 and August 2-8
Ages 11-18. Special permission required.
NOTE:
CURRENTLY, THE TOURING CAMP COACHING STAFF HAS NOT BEEN
FINALIZED, SO WE CAN'T SAY FOR CERTAIN THAT THIS PROGRAM WILL HAPPEN.
BUT IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE LET US KNOW AND WE WILL
KEEP YOU INFORMED OF NEW DEVELOPMENTS.
Campers with prior experience, who
are accomplished jugglers and who can perform basic tumbling skills
with confidence, and who demonstrate interpersonal maturity and an
ability to self-motivate, may request attendance in the Tour Session.
The program concentrates on longer and more advanced
training sessions in lieu of crafts and games. Campers are
able to choose areas of specialization and spend more time in that
activity.
Qualifying campers will train and
then build and rehearse a show. Campers then make day
trips to various locations and perform for community groups, gaining
experience in working cooperatively, taking responsibility on tour, and
interacting with different audience populations.
5 days are spent training,
building a show,
and rehearsing. Then there are two days off during the
weekend. During the following 6 days, campers make day
trips to various locations and perform for community groups, gaining
experience in working cooperatively, taking responsibility on tour, and
interacting with different audience populations.
The "Tour"
is our most advanced level camp of the summer and is performance-oriented.
Except in unusual circumstances, the tour campers are
teenagers, or at
least "tweens" (11 or 12.) We are looking for campers
who are experienced performers, who are comfortable with tumbling (rolls,
cartwheels), who are confident 3-ball jugglers (at least), and
who have experience in at least one other circus skill that they want
to develop. Tour campers need to be able to work independently
of an adult supervisor and be able to collaborate with other
campers to create acts for the performance under a pretty rigorous schedule.
An audition or interview may be required prior to admission to the
Tour. Two letters of recommendation are required unless they
are waived by
the Tour Director. The letters would be waived if the Director
knows the applicant personally and/or has worked with the applicant
in previous situations.
